About: What This Site Does and How It Works
Nordicportal is an editorial reference on nordic walking and nordic fitness. It explains a movement in detail, places the equipment, describes the certification structures in German-speaking Europe, and on the health effects states what has been measured and what has not.
How the work is done
Four rules govern every text. Figures carry a source. Where a number comes from a training regulation, a statute or a study, the origin is named along with the date it refers to. Ranges rather than averages. Where a value varies between providers or regions, the range is given; an averaged price for a course each regional federation prices itself would not be usable information. Thin evidence is called thin. That is why the pages on back complaints and on reactive training devices say explicitly where the studies stop. Nothing is sold. There are no commissioned product recommendations, no paid placements and no course brokerage.
What is not here
Three things are missing deliberately. Course dates and provider directories go out of date faster than an editorial site can maintain them; the federations' own instructor searches are more reliable for that. Price comparisons of individual products are omitted for the same reason, which is why the equipment page covers components and the order of decisions rather than models. And individual medical assessments are beyond what a website can do: where complaints, procedures or clearance to train are involved, the answer belongs with the treating practice.
The editorial team
Denis Heinemann publishes the site and is responsible for its content; his name appears on the articles and the full details are in the imprint. Corrections and factual notes are welcome and are carried into the text rather than quietly overwritten.
